You're paying for resources nobody uses.

Servers, energy, licenses: everything went up. The waste stays invisible.

Product

One platform, six objects.

The unit of analysis is explicit, never implicit: a site, its scopes, their inventories, a method, an engine, a report.

01 foundation
Sites & scopes

The site holds the CapEx / OpEx catalog; each scope is the set you value, with its own method and bucket. The unit of analysis is explicit, never implicit.

02 input
Inventory

Drop in your VMware, Nutanix, Hyper-V or Proxmox export. Full history per period, automatic technology detection, latest-wins.

03 method
Valuation

Amortized CapEx plus recurring OpEx prorated across compute / storage / network, or a fixed-price unit catalog. The choice is made in the wizard, per scope.

04 engine
Rating engine

The engine reruns at the bucket cadence, values every VM and persists the detail in the database. Full TCO view for trade-offs. FOCUS output in CSV + Parquet.

05 capacity
Capacity planning

Allocated vs used capacity per technology, plus an Optimization tab that quantifies the savings potential in euros: billed powered-off VMs, over-allocation, snapshots.

06 output
FOCUS report

Total £/month and £/year, amortized CapEx, OpEx, top 10 contributors, breakdowns and tag filtering. CSV and Parquet export in the FOCUS standard.

Views

One dataset, several lenses.

Financial, capacity, operational. Each profile only sees the views that concern it; managed service providers track several clients from a single portfolio view.

FAQ

The questions that keep coming up.

Which hypervisors are supported today?

Four technologies: VMware vSphere (via RVTools), Nutanix AHV (Prism export), Microsoft Hyper-V (Get-VM / SCVMM) and Proxmox VE (pvesh / qm list). Finexus detects the technology automatically on upload and applies the right column synonyms.

How does Finexus value a VM?

Two methods, chosen per perimeter. In CapEx/OpEx, Finexus depreciates your hardware purchases on a straight line and spreads your recurring charges across the fleet, prorated by compute / storage / network. In work-unit catalog, it applies your fixed prices to resources, 1:1. Either way, you get a TCO view per VM.

What is the FOCUS format and why does it matter?

FOCUS (FinOps Open Cost & Usage Specification) is the open standard maintained by the FinOps Foundation. Finexus publishes your on-prem in that schema instead of a homegrown Excel export: your costs become auditable, trackable over time and readable by the same tools as the rest of your FinOps.

Does my data stay with me?

Yes. Inventory exports and FOCUS outputs are stored in the bucket of your choice (S3, Azure Blob, GCS), configured per perimeter. No data ever leaves for a third-party service.

What happens if I upload several inventories for the same month?

The latest upload of a month automatically becomes the active one (latest-wins). History stays available and you can promote an earlier version at any time from the Inventories tab.

Several teams use Finexus, does each one see the right thing?

Yes. Views are organized as lenses (Overview, Capacity, VM Fleet) and rights are assigned by profile. Each profile accesses the perimeter and level of detail that concerns it.
